People create Papel Picado banners to celebrate holidays and different occasions like the changing of the seasons. It is considered a Mexican folk art.

Come to the Children's Read Aloud Area to learn about and create Papel Picado. You will have the opportunity to make several Papel Picado flags, some to decorate the library for Hispanic Heritage Month and some to take home with you!
